Book 4 review (exam)- Best sellers

Jackson Jr, I love you, very much and you were all I wanted in life… How are you doing? You mean the world to me and I could not have seen your dads or my life without you. You always made me smile and kept me company. I miss you more than anything and one day I hope to see you in heaven. Please be good to your father and make him happy, he is going to still think about me and that is perfectly fine… I love you so much, I am sorry it ended the way it did. I will be watching over you and dad, every step of your way. I hope you do well in school so you can get a good degree and support your family. I know that you are going to have an amazing life, wife, family, and friends. Not being able to meet your wife but already knowing who she will be, kills me but does not at the same time. You are in the best hands you could be in and you will make me very proud. I know it is really hard and it will be really hard not having me around and not ever going to have me around but in the end we all will die one day or another and that is just how life is. If you ever have or need help with something please, please, please go to your father, or grandparents… They will always be there to help you. Whether you decide you are going to play baseball, basketball, football, or any other sport, I will still love you. Nothing can ever change that about me. Whether you are going to be a priest, doctor, or even a teacher nothing will change my love for you. Carrying you around for 9 months was not an easy thing but I did it because I wanted you, I wanted my own child and your father did too… I am really sorry the way this turned out… I lived my life and it was very fun but now that you are born and I am passed I want you to have an exciting and fun life… That is what makes me happy and as long as you are happy then I am… I love you Jackson Junior, you are my everything. Now stop reading this and being sad about me not being there and go outside, play with your father and friends… I be looking over you like a hawk full of love for you.

Book #3 Listicle-Best Sellers

Five Reasons Why Sam is a Literary Hero

Sam is essentially a literary character. She is a “daredevil” while going around she invites Sam in unlike anyone else… She makes Charlie feel special, she gets his out of his “dark hole”.

To tell you how she did this so well here are five reasons why Sam is the real hero in The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

1.     She makes Charlie have fun, gets his mind off of being depressed.

Even though they might not be the best decisions she still reaches out and gets him out of that bad place, makes him feel like he has someone to go to and makes him feel involved. Yes they are all older and they all do things that they’re not supposed to but they’re teenagers… As they were coming home from homecoming, Sam decides she is going to stand up out of the car in a tunnel and put her arms out like a bird, Charlie just sat there and smiled.

2.     She makes Charlie fall in love.

Charlie may have fallen in love with her and it wasn’t the best idea but she doesn’t just think it’s weird and stops talking to him she tries to get him out of it. She lets him know that she doesn’t feel the exact same way and still is nice about it. In the end she ends up falling in love with Charlie and when she goes to collage she doesn’t stop thinking about him… AS Charlie was helping Sam pack for collage they ended up getting very intimate and in the end Charlie decides to call it off because of Sam going to college.

3.     She helped him pay attention in school and get better grades.

As Sam was helping Charlie study for the S.A.T she made him realize how important school really was and he needs to get good grades… The only way you succeed or get into a good collage in life is if you have to put forth all your effort in high school… Knowing she was very laid back and always just got average grades.

4.     She teaches Charlie that sexual abuse is not right…

As Sam was sexually abused when she was younger, she never really told anyone and when she did they did not believe her… When she finally comes out and tells Charlie he realized how much it hurt her and still does… Charlie finally realizes that he should never ask a girl do things she doesn’t want to and he should never do the things that happened to her.

5.     Sam makes Charlie to follow his dreams.

For Christmas Patrick (Sam’s stepbrother and Charlie’s friend) and Sam got Charlie an old fashion typewriter, this typewriter got Charlie in to writing a lot more, as Charlie’s teacher always made him write extra essays on books he had read and gave him feedback. Towards the end/ middle Charlie realizes that he wants to be a writer and decides he is good at so he’s going to follow his dreams.

Blog post #5- Best sellers

·         I feel as if the book is a great story, it is selling good, giving the author money, and the people reading it is okay then why not lie about it being non-fiction. The main reason for books are to entertain and to amuse people… If they wanted to learn about something, fore say the holocaust then they can go and get a history textbook. As Janet says, that she does not care if it is true or not as long as it is a good story and I agree with her.

·         I think that half-truths are completely fine, as if they’re giving you a good story why not lie or tweak it a little bit? Some of it is still true so the author is not completely lying nor completely telling the truth he was more of making a good story and adding/taking away some things to make the story better and more engaging.

·         I think that David is right because honestly are we looking for truth in a story or are we looking for a good engaging story? I feel like people over reacted a lot and they shouldn’t have because when you read it you though “oh wow this is a great story” and then once you found out he lied everyone was mad but you wouldn’t have known unless you did all the research. Books shouldn’t be labeled, they are all there to entertain you not to tell the truth.

English- TCOW- conversation with james

M- Hello James how are you?
J- Great Maddy how are you?
M- Great, I just have some questions for you...
J- Sure thing!
M- How did it make you feel living the way you did with so many children in your house?
J- Sometimes I didn't like it because I didn't get much time alone with my mother.
M-Would you change having as many kids in your family?
J- No, sometimes they do get annoying but I love them and wouldn't change them for the world.
M- Do you ever wish to meet your dad one time?
J- Well of course, he helped make my life come true and there is not a day I go by not thinking about what he was like.... I had my step dad in my life that also helped me and was a father figure for me.
M- Thank you so much James!!!

This conversation is about his life and how he lived and what he would change differently.

Best seller- Blog post #4 adapting book 2

Breakfast at Tiffanys-

KEEP-
Holy eating breakfast outside of Tiffany's because she was upset... This scene talk about how whenever holly is upset/ stressed she goes and get a coffee and her breakfast, goes to tiffany's and eats it there while looking though the windows at the jewelry. I think the director should keep this because the book is called breakfast at tiffany's but she doesn't eat breakfast much there... Well she only eats it once there.

Holly talking about getting paid for going to visit the convict for 100 dollars a week. This scene was about Holly talking about her life and how she doesn't do anything with her life... she calls her cat "cat" and she thinks that there is no point to give it a name...

Holy is having people and she get out of the sower, walks out and see's OJ and Paul in the room talking about her, she walks up to them puts Cat down and then OJ kicks the cat while talking bad about Holly and being very rude...

DISCARD-

When Holly and harry are talking and he calls her baby, he likes her a lot and always asks for her to let him inside because he is a very likable guy but Holly is constantly rejecting him and saying no... After he constantly is calling her baby and telling her that he is a likable person but really he is not, he's kind of creepy and pushy.

A character that I would take out of the book, is this girl that came down to Holy's room and started talking about her drunk husband... Holly doesn't like many people in fact she would rather live by herself with out a cat and with out a man but this girl came and did nothing to Holly and didn't change Holly at all just annoyed her.

Letter to the author- English class

Dear Ms. Donoghue,
Your book, Room was amazing, I love it so much! You are a fantastic author and I love the dialogue you use. When I started reading this book I thought oh this is slow and they're going to have someone find them and escape but it was so much more than that. I love it so much. It makes me really think of how sick people in this world are. You really have inspired me to read more and I love that. Thank you so much!
Your biggest fan of Room,
Maddy Recker

Post 3: book 1 project, best sellers

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

These long-awaited collectibles are in stores near you! These crayons are here to make you remember the colors of things in “Room.” They’re related by Violet: being the color of the blanket on the bed that they slept with every night, Red: being the color of the wardrobe that Jack slept in every night so Old Nick wouldn’t see him, White: The color of the sink that Ma and Jack used every day, Orange: being the color of the table that they would eat off of and sometimes move on to the bed to do their physical education every day, Yellow: being the color of Jack’s toothbrush that e used every night before he went to bed and every morning he woke up, Blue: The skylight that jack and Ma saw but never thought it was actually real, Indigo: The color of the walls that Old Nick has painted to make them “sound proof”, Green: The color of the rug that Ma had baby Jack on about 5 years ago.

In Room, Ma talks about how she never asked Old Nick to buy Jack markers or Play-Doh because it dries out so instead she asked for pencils and crayons otherwise she would have to keep asking week, after week. “’You never got Play-Doh for one of your Sunday treats?’ he asks. ‘It dries out.’ That’s Ma butting in. ‘Ever thing of that? Even if you put it back in the tub, like, religiously, after a while it starts going leathery.’ ‘I guess it would.’ Says Dr. Clay. ‘That’s the same reason I asked for crayons and pencils, not markers or cloth diapers, and- whatever would last, so I wouldn’t have to ask a week later.’” The reason I chose these colors to do for the crayons because when Jack was explaining the room that Old Nick had locked them in. When jack was explaining room though the book he didn’t quite know how because he has never been to school, never taken a class, more been taught what he needs to know to be at an average five year olds English. As jack explains Room he does a really good with color because he has never left that his whole life, he sees those colors every day, he knows what they are and what they are not.

This idea of making the crayons the color of things in Room is going to work because a lot of little kids use crayons and pencils so when parents see that they are selling things like this with popular colors on them they want to see what the book is about and when you start reading this books it’s almost like you can’t stop and if you can’t stop then your friends are going to notice you are reading the book and they are going to want to read it too. My idea of the crayons is going to net attention by giving examples of the book and people thinking “Oh, what is this book about, it looks really good!” My idea encourages people that already have read the book and love it, can use the crayons when they need them, can get them for presents and little kids that need crayons, but also can just keep them as a collectable, it shows a good part of this book and shows that being in Room is really hard on not just MA but also jack. By doing this it could also get someone who may want to do it to someone to show how hard it is on the children and how cruel it is.

Post 2- What is a book- Best sellers

Some people say books are fanatic and some say books are stupid, but as I sit here, not knowing what a book really is, a bundle of pages wouldn't leave my head... Now someone may say, it’s a bundle of good and joyful pages and some may say it’s a bundle of pages that have boring words on them... When you don't know what a book is about, if it’s good, or if you'll even like it you still read it. Maybe you have a reason on why you want to read it, maybe you don't but you read it anyway. You may end up loving it, you may end up hating it... In the end you still read it, it might be magical and it might be stupid, but good job you finished a book. Some books are so bad you just can’t finish them but that's alright because you tried but you always could end up loving the book to pieces, for example I started reading Room by Emma Donoghue and everyone said it was good but disturbing and sad, I am still reading it, even though I'm not completely done with it, what I have read is absolutely amazing, Emma is great writer. Ever just look at a book and think "oh that covers cool, I'm going to read it" but end up totally hating it? Yeah that's because you judged it by its cover, do you hate someone because of what you see or hear about them? That's the exact same thing... All I’m saying right now is, books are great, and they can really bring out something in someone that no one has seen before. Have you ever done something and think, this really makes me happy or this really makes me feel like myself? That's exactly how some people feel about reading. Now before you go and judge your next person or in this case, book make sure you see what is on the inside because you may end up loving that true inside meaning of that book.

Why i chose this book- English

I chose the book Room by Emma Donoghue because, I look mysteries and suspense kind of books. I have also heard great things about it. I wasn't sure what to expect and wasn't sure if I was going to like it because it I've heard it is kind of disturbing and scary... Because so many people had good reviews I thought I might try it. I am about half way though this books and I just don't want to put it down!!

English 1- Mrs. Borock, Room

I choose the book Room by Emma Donoghue because, I really like books that have suspense. I have heard that this book is really good and a lot of people have talked about it. This interest me because I’m excited to see if or how they escape from this terrible 12x12 room.

Why I read?- best sellers

My name is Maddy Recker and I really like to read. I don't just read cause I have to or it waste time or because I'm too lazy to go outside, I read because I love it. One of the main reasons I really read is because when you find good books you just cant put them down. Now honestly some books can be super boning and that's when I don't read. The book called The Fault in Our Starts is probably one of my all time favorite books. Reading also brings out some sort of happiness in my day, whenever I'm sad, feeling down, in the blues, or I just don't know what I'm feeling I go pick up a book. This makes me happy and changes my mood, so that is why I really read.
If you're looking for a good book, I suggest looking at this trailer for The Fault in Our Stars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ItBvH5J6ss
